What is BPA and why is it harmful?

BPA is Bisphenol A, a synthetic chemicals used in the manufacturing of countless goods, such as water and baby bottles, dental fillings and sealants, dental and medical devices, eyeglass lenses, DVDs and CDs, household electronics and sports equipment. It can act in a similar fashion to oestrogen and other hormones found in the body, but can have devastating effects.

BPA can cause reproductive disorders, by disallowing full egg maturation. It can also cause heart disease, erectile dysfunction, effect the sex hormones in men and cause Type 2 Diabetes. If that’s not enough, Bisphenol A can also cause depression, a loss of connection between brain cells, cause breast cancer and asthma. This chemical simply should not be in our drink bottles.

Infants and unborn babies are even more susceptible to the harmful effects of BPA than adults or children.
